Anthony Remick is a partner in Hellmuth & Johnson’s Litigation practice group. His extensive litigation experience allows him to reasonably negotiate potential resolutions early in a dispute while being ready and willing to proceed through litigation when necessary. He has handled a wide variety of cases in multiple states through both the state and federal courts. While Anthony is ready to address nearly any civil litigation issue, his practice focuses primarily on the areas property insurance coverage and liability indemnity coverage disputes.
Anthony has been at the forefront of addressing insurance policy coverage cases on behalf of property owners and has argued insurance policy coverage before the Minnesota Supreme Court. He has successfully challenged insurance denials and undervaluations for residential and business property claims in Minnesota, Ohio, and Missouri. Property owners, restoration contractors, and public adjusters seek Anthony’s advice on all types of property damage claims, including damage from wind, hail, fire, water, fallen trees, and more. Anthony is always willing to analyze your potential insurance claim and discuss the best options to proceed.
Anthony also analyses and challenges liability defense denials. Homeowner and Business policies often provide protections for liability claims brought against their insureds. When an insured is facing a potentially covered liability claim, the insurance company has a duty to pay for the litigation costs to defend the claim. The insurance company’s duty to defend a liability claim is broader than its duty to actually cover the liability. Accordingly, an insurance company must pay to defend a claim even if it may not actually be covered. However, insurers often deny coverage and refuse to defend claims that they are obligated to defend under the terms of the Policy. When this happens, the insured must both challenge the coverage denial while still defending from the liability claims during the insurance coverage dispute. Having previously worked as a liability defense attorney appointed by insurance companies, Anthony is able to both challenge the insurance coverage denial and defend the liability claims against the insured.
He received his J.D from the University of Minnesota law school after obtaining his B.S. in Psychology also from the University of Minnesota. Anthony is admitted to practice in the state courts of Minnesota, Ohio, and Virginia as well as the U.S. District Courts of Minnesota, Ohio, and the Eastern District of Missouri.
Outside of work Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenaged children. They enjoy bike rides, cooking, and board games.
